The Government's newly unveiled traffic light system will come into effect across New Zealand when every District Health Board (DHB) has hit 90 percent double dosed.
Nationally, 69 percent of eligible New Zealanders (those aged over 12) have had two shots of the Pfizer vaccine, but the rate within individual DHBs varies.
Auckland may be the first to move to the Red level of the new system, as it needs just its three DHBs - Auckland, Waitematā and Counties Manukau - to hit the 90 percent mark before transitioning.
