Police are investigating after a baby died in Starship Hospital from injuries believed to be non-accidental overnight.
County Manukau detective inspector Warrick Adkin says a 2-year-old girl was transported to hospital in a critical condition on Sunday evening from an address in Weymouth.
The child's injuries are believed to be non-accidental and at this stage the death is being treated as suspicious.
A post-mortem is taking place this morning.
Adkin says a scene examination will be taking place today and police are speaking to those occupants as part of their enquiries.
The occupants are currently self-isolating and police are wearing full PPE.
