A fundraiser has been launched to buy one of New Zealand's most beautiful beaches and get it back in public hands.
New Chums Beach in Coromandel is privately owned and has recently been put up for sale, and a group of locals and conservationists are fundraising to buy the slice of paradise.
"It's a jewel in the crown of New Zealand's heritage - it's been designated 'iconic' for decades and decades and it seems to be an ongoing issue that we put it into public ownership so that it can be preserved for generations to come," fundraising organiser Linda Cholmondeley Smith told The AM Show.
She said 'Preserve New Chums', the fundraising campaign, has started a Givealittle page to raise funds.
Now it's up to Kiwis to donate so the public can again own a slice of New Zealand paradise.
