Police have revealed the name of the man shot and killed in west Auckland on Friday.
Robert James Hart, 40, was "senselessly killed in a driveway" on Great North Rd in New Lynn on Friday morning, Det Insp Kevin McNaughton said on Tuesday.
When police arrived just after 10am, Hart was still alive - but first aid couldn't save him, and he died at the scene.
McNaughton said Hart had two young children "who will now grow up without their father in their lives".
No one has been arrested yet.
"We are well aware that there are people in the community who know those involved and what they have done," said McNaughton, urging them to do "the right thing" and reveal what they know.
