A child has died at Christchurch's Waltham Swimming Pool on Wednesday.
Emergency services were notified at 2:45pm that a child had been found unresponsive.
St John confirmed two ambulances and two rapid response vehicles were sent to the incident, and referred any further details to police.
A police spokesperson told Newshub that despite receiving medical treatment the child died.
"CPR was carried out however tragically the child was unable to be revived," they said.
"Enquiries into the circumstances are underway."
