Motorists are being warned of a large number of overnight motorway closures over the Christmas holiday period.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport says the closures across the Auckland motorway network allow for improvements to be made. They affect the period between December 19, 2021, and January 16, 2022. Unless stated otherwise by NZTA, all closures will begin at 9pm and finish the next day at 5am.

If poor weather disrupts any of the work, it will be completed on the next available date, prior to Friday, January 14.

The closures primarily affect on- and off-ramps, but there are several works impacting lanes on the motorways.

For example, northbound lanes between Oteha Valley off-ramp and Silverdale on-ramp will be closed between 10pm on December 21 and 5am the next day. On the southern motorway, northbound lanes between Mt Wellington Highway off-ramp and Ellerslie-Panmure Highway on-ramp will be closed January 14-15 between 10pm and 5am.

There are no works planned for George Bolt Memorial Drive (SH20A), Puhinui Rd (SH20B), State Highway 22 or State Highway 2.
