Police are calling on the public for help in their investigation after a passerby pulled a man's body from Wellington harbour on Thursday.
Police said that they were called at 7am after the body of the 47-year-old man had been located in the water, near the Boat Shed in central Wellington.
The death is not being treated as suspicious but police are asking for help in determining what has happened.
They would like to hear from anyone who saw or spoke with a male of a small build who was riding a grey GT mountain bike along the Wellington waterfront between 6pm on December 22 and 7am on December 23.
Police said the man was wearing blue jeans, white shoes, a long-sleeved yellow hi-vis top with a grey hoodie underneath.
He also had a blue/grey backpack.
