Police are investigating after a baby was taken to Starship Hospital with critical injuries thought to be "non-accidental".
In a statement to Newshub, Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor of the Waitemata police says police were told on Wednesday night that a 10-month old boy had arrived at Starship with critical injuries.
"Police have launched an investigation and are currently in the process of carrying out a scene examination at an address in Birkdale. The child remains in a critical condition in hospital."
Proctor says police believe the child's injuries are "non-accidental" and are working to establish the circumstances surrounding this.
"No one has been arrested at this stage."
