The Waikanae community is still searching for missing local man Joe Pryor after he left work on Friday morning saying he'd be back in a couple of hours and never returned.
A Facebook page to coordinate the search has amassed more than 6000 followers and on Wednesday, dozens of volunteers turned up to help his family look for him.
The Waikanae community is stepping up to help find the missing local man, Pryor.
Every day starts with a meeting with the volunteers in Pryor's office to discuss how they'll tackle the day.
Pryor wrote a note on a whiteboard in the office saying he would be "back at 10:30am", but he never returned.
"We love you and want you home," Pryor's daughter Shannon Barclay tells Newshub.
Police are also looking and a dive team was out searching the Waikanae River on Wednesday.
Police say the disappearance is not suspicious and Pryor's family believe he's alive.
"My dad was in really good physical and mental health," Barclay says. "He's the most positive upbeat person."
On Friday morning, CCTV footage shows him outside the Waikanae Library at 8:08am. He then walked past the TAB on Elizabeth Street at 8:12am.
New footage from a member of the public shows him on Poneke Drive at 8:21am.
"We've had sightings of him, but nothing really solid," Barclay says.
A team of volunteers have come together to scour the area including some of Pryor's old workmates.
"He would do anything for anybody," former work colleague Chris tells Newshub.
And some of the volunteers have never met him.
"I saw it on Facebook," Dave Funnell says. "We're into tramping, so thought we'd go up in the hills and have a look."
Wednesday's main search party of volunteers started upstream of the Waikanae River. They then worked their way downstream combing the river bed before ending up at the Waikanae estuary.
There are also volunteers going door to door, handing out flyers with Pryor's information.
The Waikanae community is determined to bring Pryor home.
