Two Auckland teens have been taken into custody after an early-morning crime spree that saw them allegedly attempt to ram-raid a dairy and break into a petrol station.

The two boys, both 14, were first spotted attempting to break into a Glen Eden petrol station at around 6am on Friday, Senior Sergeant Aron McKeown, Acting Area Prevention Manager for Waitematā West, told Newshub.

Prior to the attempted break-in, the teens had allegedly tried to ram-raid a dairy on Atkinson Rd.

A police helicopter tracked the teens' car to the west Auckland suburb of Ranui, where the vehicle was spiked.

"The offenders have attempted to dump the car and two young persons both aged 14 were taken into custody," Snr Sgt McKeown said.

One is charged with unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle and the other is charged with receiving stolen property and driving a motor-vehicle in a dangerous manner.

Both are due to appear in Waitākere Youth Court on Friday.
