The New Zealand Defence Force held a press conference about its operation response to Tonga's volcano eruption and tsunami.
Commander of Joint Forces New Zealand, Rear Admiral Jim Gilmour, answered questions and said aircraft carrying much-needed supplies arrived just after 4pm.
Phone links between Tonga and the rest of the world began to be reconnected on Wednesday, but full internet connectivity is likely to take at least a month.
