Two men have been arrested and five dirt bikes have been impounded following a reckless New Year's Eve ride through Auckland.
Inspector Jacqui Whittaker said many cyclists and drivers had to take evasive action to protect themselves from the group, none of whom had a valid licence to ride the bikes.
Whittaker said many of the riders were also extremely aggressive towards police and a patrol car was damaged.
The two arrested men face charges including failing to stop, careless driving and driving without a licence.
