There has been a drop in the number of community cases reported on Tuesday, following yesterdays surge in numbers.
There were 744 new cases reported across the country and 40 cases are in hospital.
The locations of new community cases in the North Island are 43 in Northland, 535 in Auckland, 69 in the Waikato, 8 in the Bay of Plenty, 10 in Lakes, one in Hawke’s Bay, six in MidCentral, two in Taranaki, seven in Tairāwhiti, one in Wairarapa, five in the Capital and Coast and one in Hutt Valley.
The locations of community cases in the South Island are eight in Nelson Marlborough, nine in Canterbury and 30 in Southern DHB.

This follows a record-breaking day of 981 new cases reported on Monday.
The Prime Minister announced New Zealand will move to phase 2 of the Government's Omicron plan at 11:59 pm on Tuesday.
Phase two commences when daily cases are in the thousands, however, we are not there yet.
In phase two isolation requirement times are decreased, but Ardern says the way to handle Omicron is the same as previous outbreaks - Get tested, vaccinated and isolate if you are sick.
Yesterday afternoon Whanganui DHB's eligible population reached 90 percent fully vaccinated, leaving just Northland remaining at 87 percent fully vaccinated to hit the target.
The Big Boost Week continues, as eligible Kiwis are urged to get their booster shots. 47,573 booster doses were administered across the country, with almost a total of two million doses so far.
This comes as COVID-19 advisor Sir David Skegg says his greatest concern is the large amount of Kiwis who are still to get their booster shot.
"I think it's time we stopped talking about people being fully vaccinated if they've only had two doses," Sir Skegg says.
