Video footage has emerged of a car reversing directly at a group of police officers on the streets outside Parliament on Wednesday, braking just before hitting them.
Police on Wednesday worked to clear the 23-day long anti-mandate protest at Parliament, which resulted in clashes between officers and demonstrators on the Beehive's grounds which then spilled onto the surrounding streets.
One video of the clashes posted online shows a group of police officers nearly being hit by a speeding, reversing car as nearby demonstrators watch on.
The footage shows officers then trying to smash the vehicle's passenger window before the driver speeds off again.
It's unclear if the driver of the vehicle has been located.
Police Commissioner Andrew Coster on Thursday applauded his officers who helped bring the anti-mandate protest to an end.
Coster told AM despite the distressing events, he was proud of how his team handled the situation.
"Our people did an incredible job and the teamwork and support they showed for each other, and the bravery for our community was incredible," Coster said.
He said the seven police officers who required hospital treatment following the chaos were doing "OK".
"There were some reasonable injuries there - none of them life-threatening. One of my deputies when and spoke to them last night and they were talking and doing OK."
