Police are asking for the public's help finding David Holland who is reported missing from his Bay of Plenty home.

The 31-year-old was last heard from on the evening of Friday March 11. His friends believe he was intending to go for a swim at Papamoa Beach near the end of Pacific View Rd.

He later didn't show up for work - which police say is out of character - and they as well as his loved ones have concerns for his welfare.

"A search of the beach and surrounding areas has been conducted, however nothing has been found that would help police understand where David might be," police say.

Further searching will take place on Sunday.

Police say they would like to hear from anyone who has seen Holland or who might have information about his movements or where he is.

They would specifically like to hear from anyone at Papamoa Beach on Friday at about 7:30pm who may have seen him there.

Anyone with information is urged to call 105 and quote file number 220312/6869.
