Residents in buildings surrounding Parliament have praised police officers' hard work in removing anti-mandate protesters.
The protesters had been camped out in Wellington for three weeks causing disruption and annoyance to locals.
On Wednesday, police removed the protesters in a day-long operation that saw people set Parliament's playground on fire and tear up footpaths to throw bricks at officers.
But despite the chaos, people living in apartments near Parliament took a moment to thank the police on Wednesday.
A video posted to Twitter by Labour MP Kieran McAnulty shows residents clapping and waving while shouting out "thank you" at police.
"Residents in the apartment block across from Parliament showing the appreciation we all feel. Thank you @nzpolice," McAnulty captioned the video.
McAnulty isn't alone with numerous politicians sharing their appreciation for police including Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and National leader Christopher Luxon.
Police Commissioner Andrew Coster also praised his staff saying they were an example of professionalism, courage and restraint.
"I didn't see a baton used yesterday, we avoided tear gas, we only lifted the levels of force when it was required to manage the crowd. The restraint, professionalism and courage of our people - you won't see a finer example anywhere in the world," Coster told AM on Thursday.
