Waikato police have arrested a teenager in relation to an incident where a milk tanker was stopped, emptied of milk and had its windscreen smashed with a hammer.
Inspector Will Loughrin said in a statement police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man with a number of offences.
"An 18-year-old man has been charged with wilful damage, disorderly behaviour likely to cause violence and possession of an offensive weapon."
The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday on Orini Road near Taupiri when a milk tanker was stopped by a group of boy racers.
"A significant amount of milk was emptied from the tanker and a hammer was used to smash the windscreen," said Loughrin.
The 18-year-old will appear in the Huntly District Court on Tuesday.
Loughrin says police have not ruled out further arrests and intend to hold the offenders to account.
"Police remain committed to ensuring our roads are safe for all in our community. The actions of a few anti-social road users will not be tolerated."
Police are asking any members of the public with information, videos or pictures of the incident that may assist, to contact police on 105 and quote file number 220320/4139.
