Powerful waves breaking on Auckland's Tamaki Dr have been caught on camera.
Footage provided to Newshub shows large waves crashing onto the sea wall early on Monday morning. The white water spills over onto the pavement and flows over onto the road.
Stormwater drains on the road overflow with the salty water causing surface flooding in front of the street's waterfront apartment blocks.
Sandbags placed on the pavement were no match for the wild waves, with the video showing a number strewn across the path.
