An investigation is underway after would-be thieves smashed a glass door at Sylvia Park before trying to make off with jewellery.
A police spokesperson said they smashed the glass door at the Auckland mall at around 3:20am on Thursday.
Once inside they tried to get into a jewellery store but were foiled by security measures. They then fled the scene in a car.
The spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing including reviewing CCTV footage.
