A homicide investigation is underway after a man was fatally stabbed in Invercargill early on Saturday morning.
A second man who was also stabbed is in critical condition in hospital.
Police were called just before 12:45 am on Saturday after two men were seen injured on Don Street in the vicinity of the Invercargill District Court building.
One man died at the scene while the other was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Police set up a scene guard overnight and cordons are in place.
Police want to speak to anyone who was either walking or driving through the vicinity of Don Street at the time.
