The four teenagers that died in a crash near Invercargill on Friday have been named.
Police said the victims were Konnor Steele, Indaka Rouse, Kyah Kennedy - all 16-years-old from Bluff - and 17-year-old O Maruhuatau Otuwhare Tawhai from Invercargill.
"Police would like to extend our sincere condolences to their family and friends," a statement said.
The teenagers were killed when two vehicles collided on Queen's Dr in Invercargill, just before 4pm on Friday.
Bluff Community Board chairperson Raymond Fife said the crash was "tragic", with three of the boys killed from the small tight-knit community of Bluff.
"They are from well-known Bluff families that have lived in Bluff, some of them for generations, and the ripple effect going around Bluff, it’s quite strong," Fife said on Saturday.
Fife was a distant relative of one of the boys and like most people in the town, knew all the families.
"The families are involved in the marae here which is a big part of the community and another family through sporting," he said.
"Three teenagers and they've got their lives to look forward to and for a small community it is very big."
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing and there were no further updates at this time, police said.
