Two luxury fashion stores have been ram-raided overnight in downtown Auckland.
Police said they responded to reports of a ram raid incident in the early hours of Monday morning at the Louis Vuitton and Gucci stores on Auckland's Queen Street.
Police said a stolen vehicle was found at the scene and a second stolen car was located nearby.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, including a review of available CCTV footage.
"Police understand the incident will be distressing for the business owners' and police will liaise with them around prevention measures that can be put in place to deter future offending," a police spokesperson said.
Photos taken at the scene show the front windows of both stores damaged with glass scattered over the footpath.
The cost of the latest break-in is unclear, but small business advocate Sunny Kaushal told AM criminal activity like this is happening almost every night, with business owners left feeling helpless.
He called for the resignation of the Police and Justice Ministers, who he says aren't doing enough to protect vulnerable business owners.
"There is a sense of lawlessness gripping, not just in Auckland, but the entire country and the soft on crime Government and weak leadership is creating an environment of crime," he said on Monday.
"Right now we have an emergency. It's a retailer and dairy crime emergency so we need to tackle that."
"We are asking for the resignation of the Minister of Police and Minister of Justice [Kris Faafoi] because the public, the businesses and also the police, to some extent, have lost their faith in these ministers. It's that serious."
