Auckland crime: Footage shows aftermath of attempted Māngere ramraid

Footage has revealed the extent of the damage caused by another attempted ram raid in Auckland showing smashed glass and an abandoned car used for the failed break-in.

Police said officers were called to reports of an attempted burglary, at a Caltex service station on Māngere's Savill Dr, shortly after 3am on Sunday.

The offenders used a car to try and ram-raid the store but failed and fled the scene, police said.

Newshub footage of the attempted ram-raid aftermath shows the back end of the abandoned car up on a bollard in front of the store, which appears to have prevented the offenders from breaking in.

A tow truck then removed the offending vehicle, which damaged the bollards and smashed a significant amount of the front window.

Officers along with a dog unit attended the incident and attempted to locate the group. Police said the group has yet to be found and an investigation was ongoing.

The latest ram raid on Sunday comes after three people were arrested earlier this week following multiple break-ins across Auckland.

On Sunday, the Government announced a $600 million package aimed at tackling rising crime.
