Caltex service station in Māngere, Auckland ram raided with suspects still at large

A service station in Auckland is the latest victim of an attempted ram raid as the crime spree in the city continues.

Police told Newshub in a statement they received a report of an attempted burglary at the Caltex service station on Savill Dr in Māngere East, shortly after 3am on Sunday.

"A group of people had used a vehicle to attempt to gain entry to a store, however, they were unable to and fled the scene," the statement said.

Officers along with a dog unit attended the incident and attempted to locate the group. Police said the group has yet to be found and an investigation is ongoing.

It's understood the bollards in front of the service station stopped the thieves from gaining entry into the store.

The latest ram raid on Sunday comes after three people were arrested on Tuesday after a number of break-ins across Auckland.

There were two ram-raid-style burglaries in west Auckland, including the Harvey Norman at the NorthWest Shopping Centre and a liquor store in Titirangi.

This was then followed by a smash-and-grab at Huffer on Ponsonby Rd, which left glass and clothing strewn across the footpath.

Another burglary also took place at a residential property in Hillsborough.
