The Prime Minister fulfilled her Budget cheese rolls tradition on Thursday despite having COVID-19.
Jacinda Ardern livestreamed the tradition on Instagram with Finance Minister Grant Robertson, where she revealed she'd lost all of her taste.
As she began her livestream voices and laughter could be heard in the background before telling them to be quiet.
"Can you please mute?," she said before laughing.
Grant Robertson's staff were at the other end of the Zoom call, the Prime Minister said she had to have the Minister on Zoom so he wouldn't miss the livestream invite.
"I have him on Zoom just in case he doesn't pick up his phone, because I don't want him to miss this opportunity to join us."
Robertson quickly joined the Prime Minister with his camera showing a plate full of "pretty good" looking cheese rolls.
Compared to Robertson's cheese rolls the Prime Minister admitted her's were on the "beige side" because she had forgotten that she'd put them in the oven.
"They're going to taste just as good,"
"You know what, I'm not going to know because I've lost all my taste," Ardern said.
Robertson then laughed saying "that's great, I hope that comes back for you soon".
And keeping with the Prime Minister's Budget traditions, the Finance Minister is gifted a tie from Ardern.
The Prime Minister said she usually would visit Robertson's office to gift the tie, instead a staff member brought it to him in a large brown envelope while the PM isolates.
"This is a very flash envelope Prime Minister."
Robertson appeared to love the tie and said he would wear it at today's announcement.
Ardern went for a red theme with bubbles for this year's tie.
"I'm not in your bubble but I am next to your bubble," she said
