A large street brawl involving about 100 tennagers in a Wellington suburb broke out on Saturday night, which saw cans thrown at police.
Officers were called to reports of disorder in Stoke St in Newtown shortly before 11pm on Saturday.
Police said a group of about 100 teenagers were reported to be fighting in the street.
"When police arrived, some of the teenagers began throwing cans and other items at police staff," a spokesperson said.
"Approximately 35 police officers were required in order to clear the area and bring the disorder to an end."
Police said one person was arrested for breach of the peace.
