Police have arrested two people with several restricted firearms seized following an incident in Auckland overnight.
A police spokesperson confirmed police attempted to stop a vehicle linked to a local gang on Richardson Road in the suburb of Mount Roskill at around 11:40pm on Thursday.
Police said the vehicle failed to stop, but the Eagle helicopter followed the car travelling towards an address on Penbury Place, New Windsor.
Police went to the New Windsor address and found two restricted firearms and several rounds of ammunition.
The alleged offenders were also located and police confirmed one person was arrested for unlawful possession of firearms and failing to stop. A second person was arrested on an existing warrant.
They will both appear in Auckland District Court on Friday.
Police did not confirm what gang the offenders were linked to.
