Two people have been arrested after allegedly hijacking a car at gunpoint in Waipū, Northland on Sunday afternoon.
Police said in a statement, they received a report a car had been stolen in Waipū at 2pm and a firearm had been presented by the offender.
"Police enquiries located the car and police deployed road-spikes with the result of bringing the car to a stop on Maunu Road, where it struck another vehicle. No injuries were reported," police said.
Two people were arrested and will face charges in relation to the incident while enquiries into the event are ongoing and police have not ruled out further arrests, police said.
