Wellington City Mayor Andy Foster has tested positive for COVID-19, his office has confirmed.
Foster tested positive for the virus on Sunday after becoming lightly symptomatic.
At this stage, Foster's symptoms were light to moderate, his office said on Monday morning.
As a result, the Mayor will be required to isolate until Sunday, May 29. He will carry out "light duties" remotely until then.
Deputy Mayor Sarah Free will stand in for Foster until Sunday.
Foster is the latest politician to be infected with COVID-19 after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern tested positive for the virus on May 14.
