An Auckland petrol station is the latest to be hit in a string of ram raids on retail businesses.
Police were called to BP on Chapel Road in Northpark just after midnight on Tuesday morning.
A police spokesperson said offenders began stealing cigarettes from the store before the fog cannon went off and forced them to flee the area.
Footage from the scene shows a small amount of damage to the front doors, as well as police examining a car left behind.
Police are asking anyone with information about the burglary to contact them.
"Our enquiries are ongoing into the burglary. Anyone with information can contact Police on 105 quoting the file number 220614/6615."
