An Auckland cat is counting its nine lives after it survived a series of events that involved falling six storeys, a glass barrier, and a dirty gutter.
Footage captured by Newshub shows a number of firefighters huddled around the corner of what looks like a courtyard with a small cat stuck in a dirty gutter.
One firefighter attempts the pull the cat through a small hole from the other side of the concrete barrier, but after multiple attempts, they had no luck.
The firefighter then leans themself over the concrete barrier while their colleague, who has a soggy wet cardboard box in one hand, holds the firefighter's leg in the other - in hopes they won't become trapped with the cat.
The firefighter can be seen with what looks like an axe playing with the trapped cat - that attempt failed too.
The fire crews resorted back to their original plan and eventually pulled the small cat through the tight hole, wrapped it around a towel and put it into the wet cardboard box.
Before the cat fell six storeys onto a balcony, it got stuck under a glass barrier before escaping to only get stuck in the gutter.
It took two firefighters to carry the cardboard box inside, which was breaking away at their fingertips.
The cat was taken back inside to its owner and put inside an actual cat cage before it was taken to the vet for a check-up.
It's unclear what the name of the cat is or how it's doing now.
