Expert confirms Charles Dickens sent two letters to Auckland man's ancestor

A leading expert on Charles Dickens has confirmed the literary giant sent two treasured letters to an Auckland man's ancestor.

The letters - now worth thousands of dollars - have been safeguarded here by the descendants of writer and adventurer Eliot Warburton for nearly two centuries - but the family wasn't sure they were the real deal.

As it turns out, Warburton and Dickens were great mates.
