A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following a sudden death in west Auckland on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to Ranui Station Rd in Ranui at about 10:06pm on Sunday.
The man killed has been named by police as 27-year-old Lev Nemkin from Albany.
Det Snr Sgt Megan Goldie said Nemkin's death initially was treated as unexplained.
"A homicide inquiry was subsequently launched and a 47-year-od man has been arrested this morning," she said on Thursday.
Goldie said the man has been charged with the murder of Nemkin and was due to appear in the Waitakere District Court
"We would like to reassure the wider Ranui community that police are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with this investigation."
