One person has been killed in a crash near the same spot as Sunday's horror collision in the Marlborough region.
Police confirmed one person has died and a second has "serious injuries" following a crash involving a van and a truck on State Highway 6, Kaituna, near Blenheim.
A police spokesperson said they were called to the scene of a serious crash on SH6, between Lamberts and Camerons Roads, at about 1:40pm.
The crash is around 30 kilometres from the collision between a van and a truck that killed seven people, including one infant, near Picton on Sunday morning.
Police said the road has been closed and diversions will be in place. They are urging motorists to avoid the area if possible.
