Thieves attempting to ram raid a Noel Leeming shop in east Auckland have failed with bollards preventing the vehicle from entering the store
Police said in a statement they received a report of a ram raid at 10pm on Wednesday where a vehicle attempted to force entry into the Noel Leeming store in the Botany Town Centre.
"The offenders’ vehicle damaged the front of the store. However metal bars prevented the vehicle going further in, and nothing was stolen," the statement said.
Footage from the scene shows the car still lodged in the front of the building.
It comes just two days after a Michael Hill jewellery store in the Botany Town Centre was targeted in an aggravated robbery.
Meanwhile, police received multiple reports of gunshots in the North Shore suburb of Beach Haven in Auckland at just after 1:30am.
Police said they responded to the reports and enquiries were made, but no firearms were located.
The police helicopter Eagle was also deployed to the area, and precautionary cordons were set up.
"However, shortly after, police received information from Vector that the area had experienced several power outages, possibly related to the sounds heard. Enquiries are ongoing," police said.
