Exiting Ashley Bloomfield has shared some parting words on his last day as New Zealand's health chief.
In a video shared on Twitter, Dr Bloomfield thanked Kiwis for their hard work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We've been successful because we did it as a team," he said.
Dr Bloomfield added now isn't the time to become complacent and encouraged Kiwis to "keep up the great work".
"We're not, as I say, out of the woods yet - but we can always see a path through the woods," he said.
"We've forged our own path, let's keep doing it. Keep up the great work, look after each other."
Dr Bloomfield was appointed Director-General of Health in mid-2018 and has spent the past two years guiding Aotearoa through the COVID-19 pandemic.
It's not yet known who Dr Bloomfield's successor will be.
