A second case of monkeypox in New Zealand has been confirmed by the Ministry of Health.
The age of the infected person was unclear but the health ministry said they were isolating in the Northern region and had recently travelled overseas.
"There is no evidence of community transmission from this case," a ministry spokesperson said in a statement.
On Saturday, the ministry reported New Zealand's first monkeypox case, which was also linked to overseas travel. The latest infection was not linked to Saturday's case, the ministry said.
"Public health advice has assessed the risk of transmission from this case as low," the spokesperson said.
"To protect the privacy of the case and contacts, we will be making no further comment on this case."
Monkeypox is a viral disease that causes flu-like symptoms and skin lesions.
More than 7600 cases have been reported in nearly 60 countries in the current outbreak.
