An investigation is underway after an aggravated robbery at a Michael Hill store in Newmarket, Auckland on Wednesday night.
Police said in a statement that four or five men entered the jewellery store which was open just after 6 pm.
"The males were armed with baseball bats and metal bars and used those to smash glass counters in the store," police said.
"After taking a number of items from the counters, the males left the scene in a silver Mazda Atenza, which was found abandoned in Almorah Place a short time later."
Police added they would like to hear from anyone with information on the incident and to identify the people responsible.
