Police are investigating after another Michael Hill jewellery store in Auckland was targeted in an aggravated robbery on Monday evening.
Police said in a statement they received multiple reports of a robbery at the jewellery store on Chapel Road in Botany Town Centre at around 5:40pm.
"A group of offenders carrying tools entered the premises and smashed several glass cabinets," a police spokesperson said.
"They have taken a number of items and decamped in two vehicles, both of which were later found abandoned a short distance away. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
The spokesperson is urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and speak to police.
"Anyone with footage or information that may assist is asked to contact Police via our 105 phone service or online at https://www.police.govt.nz/use-105, using Update My Report," the police spokesperson said.
"Please reference file number 220718/6724. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."
It comes as there's been a spike in robberies targeting jewellery stores in Auckland over the last couple of weeks.
Last Wednesday, a man was arrested after an aggravated robbery at a jewellery store in Meadowbank Shopping Centre where the thief allegedly stole items from the shop, which were later recovered.
Last Monday, police were called to Tj Handcrafted on Chapel St in East Tāmaki at 2:30pm where "two unknown males" got away and an investigation is underway to try and locate them.
CCTV footage captured from inside the store showed the offenders smashing into the counters and grabbing the jewellery.
Another incident at the beginning of the month saw an aggravated robbery at a Michael Hill store in Newmarket.
Police said four or five men entered the jewellery store just after 6pm.
"The males were armed with baseball bats and metal bars and used those to smash glass counters in the store," police said.
"After taking a number of items from the counters, the males left the scene in a silver Mazda Atenza, which was found abandoned in Almorah Place a short time later."
