Who doesn't love a good stroll? But it gets a bit harder when you get older and if you're using a wheelchair.
One Taranaki retiree has put his thinking cap on and created a way for him and his wife to take the sea air together.
Kevin Harvey is a true Kiwi inventor. With a little bit of Kiwi ingenuity, he stuck a wheelchair on an e-bike so he and his wife could still enjoy their evening walks.
They've become local heroes on their walk - now bike - along the coast.
Harvey told The Project the idea steemed from having trouble pushing his wife Bev up the hills of New Plymouth's Coastal Walkway.
"Pushing my wife along the walkway, especially up any rise, is quite a strenuous job and in my shed, I had all these electric bikes that are just about getting too old. So I just thought it's common sense to have a go at making it sit on the back of one."
The couple has become the talk of New Plymouth, with many locals thinking it's a clever idea - but most importantly Bev loves it.
"Bev loves it. She's got dementia and every person she meets she's saying good day to them," Harvey said.
Harvey's advice to people wanting to ride his wonderful invention is to always wear a helmet.
"One time we were above the port where we lived and I went down the drive and the seat went down," Harvey said. "And I fell off and cracked my head and the helmet saved me."
