Two people are on the run after fleeing the scene of an aggravated robbery at a jewellery store in Meadowbank Shopping Centre, Auckland.
Acting Inspector Matt Child said in a statement the offenders had a firearm with them when they entered the store just after 1pm on Wednesday, but it was not used.
"The offenders have presented a firearm and made threats, before smashing several cabinets with a hammer," he said.
"No injuries have been reported at this stage and there are no indications the firearm has been discharged."
The offenders fled the scene in a vehicle and police are asking anyone to come forward who knows anything about the incident.
"Police would particularly like to hear from anyone at the scene who has not yet spoken to Police," Insp Child said.
"They are asked to come forward and make themselves known to police. They can contact Police on 105 quoting the reference number P051216700."
