An investigation is underway in Hamilton after an armed holdup of security staff uplifting cash from the ANZ bank at The Base Shopping Centre.
Police say the security staff were confronted by three men with weapons who stole a quantity of cash around 12:45pm Monday.
An ACM armoured van used to transport cash remains parked behind a cordon outside a branch of the ANZ bank.
Police have told Newshub the security staff were not physically injured.
An ANZ spokesperson confirmed to Newshub that there was an incident at their branch at The Base.
"The safety of our staff and customers are of utmost importance and we're relieved no one was harmed," they said.
"Our staff are receiving appropriate support.
"As this is now a Police matter, we're not able to provide any further information."
It's understood the offenders left in a green-coloured Subaru station wagon registration KNR252 which was later abandoned in Pukete.
Police say the offenders left the area in another vehicle and remain on the run.
