A homicide investigation has been launched after a man who had serious injuries died in New Plymouth on Wednesday.
Detective Inspector Craig Sheridan said the man was taken to New Plymouth's Taranaki Base Hospital by associates at about 7pm on Wednesday.
The man was given medical attention but died.
Det Insp Sheridan said a property on South Road in Blagdon has been identified as an address of interest and a scene examination is currently underway.
Det Insp Sheridan said the community should expect to see an increased police presence in the Blagdon area in the coming days and anyone with information or concerns are urged to contact the police on 05 and quote file number 220803/3149.
