A Hamilton sports store has been ram-raided in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with a large amount of clothing stolen.
In a statement, police said a sports store in the Chartwell Shopping Centre on Hukanui Road, was ram-raided at 1:30am where multiple offenders stole a "large quantity of clothing" before fleeing in a second vehicle.
Police said the offenders and the vehicle have not been found yet.
Detective Inspector Daryl Smith said police acted swiftly to respond to the burglary and an investigation is underway.
"Police staff arrived at the scene within minutes of the report and conducted area enquiries, but were unable to locate the offenders. A scene examination is underway and Police are following positive lines of enquiry," Smith said.
"We understand that burglaries of this kind are distressing to business owners and to the wider community and we're working hard to bring the offenders to account.
Smith said the vehicle used in the ram-raid had been stolen earlier on Tuesday evening.
He urged Kiwis to make sure their vehicles are secure, to avoid thieves targeting them.
"We're seeing the same kinds of vehicles stolen time and time again for use in burglaries," Smith said.
"We urge vehicle owners to take steps to secure their vehicles when parked in driveways and public spaces, including using a steering lock if the vehicle isn't fitted with an immobiliser."
Smith said the public should be aware of items of branded sports clothing being offered for sale and should question deals that look too good to be true.
"If you're offered goods at a price that seems to be a steal, take a harder look at what you're really buying into. Don't encourage offending by buying stolen goods."
Police ask anyone with information about the ram-raid to come forward and speak to them.
"Anyone with information that can assist the investigation is asked to contact Police via our 105 phone service or online at https://www.police.govt.nz/use-105, using My Report. Please reference file number 220831/1565.
"Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."
This latest ram-raid comes a day after at least five locations were targeted in burglaries across Hamilton on Tuesday morning, including four ram-raids.
This isn't the first time the Chartwell Shopping Centre has been targeted.
Earlier this month, the centre was ram-raided and resulted in two shops being burgled.
In July, four children, including one as young as seven, have been caught with stolen toys and other goods after breaking into the mall in Hamilton.
