Job advertising agency Seek has found the three words Kiwi jobseekers are searching the most on its website.
In a recent survey of over 4000 Kiwis, working from home (WFH) is a "must-have" for those on the hunt for a job. In the June quarter, it was the most popular keyword searched on Seek's website.
Seek's study found 39 percent of jobseekers would resign from their role if working from home wasn't an option.
WFH advertisements have increased 1100 percent since 2019. WFH role advertisements saw a sharp increase in 2020, and have continued to climb since.
In a breakdown of working from home by sector, professional services outweighed working-from-home roles compared to other sectors like consumer services, public service, construction and industrial.
Seek New Zealand's country manager Rob Clark said in a statement the option to work from home, condense the working week, or be able to choose what days to work in the office "is not just a buzzword".
"It's a real and high priority for many workers. If you know that this is a priority for those in your industry, and you aren't shouting about your own flexible offerings, you are putting yourself at the back of the pack."
He said the most common mistake made by employers is assuming that what appeals to them would appeal to others - "this is not always the case".
"It is important for any business to identify what motivates their ideal candidates, and to go about trying to provide it."
Seek found the top three drivers for workers is the salary, work-life balance and career development, which Seek said is similar to a study conducted in 2017.
