An Auckland school comedy fundraising night turned sour late last month when several attendees got into a violent fight, hospitalising one person.
Balmoral Primary School held its annual comedy fundraising event on August 27 at Mt Eden War Memorial Hall.
The adults-only event saw parents and members of the school community attend, eat some food and drink alcohol - all while watching the likes of comedians Guy Williams and Angella Dravid.
But as the night came to an end and the event was being packed up a violent fight ensued between several attendees.
It's unclear what the fight was about or what it involved, however the NZ Herald reports it began between two people and escalated, leading to several people being involved in the brawl.
The Herald reports one person required hospital treatment.
As a result, Balmoral Primary School has since undertaken a review of the fight, which found the school had the right processes and protocols in place.
The primary school has run fundraising events for the past six years, and a spokesperson for the school told Newshub "it was very disappointing".
They made it clear that the fight didn't involve any members of the school's staff or the PTA.
A police spokesperson told Newshub a report was made at around 11:21pm on August 27 by a witness.
They added police have made several attempts to contact the victim involved but with no luck.
"Which means there have not been any arrests or charges laid in relation to this incident."
