Family of the 18-year-old woman found in a burnt-out car in Havelock North have posted a tribute to her, saying they thank those who helped find her and urge people with information to go to the police.
Ariki Rigby was named by police on Tuesday as the person found in the car and they said their thoughts and sympathies are with the 18-year-old's family and wider whānau.
Her family then posted tributes on social media, with one saying: "We take this time to acknowledge everyone who has showed love and concern in helping us find our Ariki Rigby. All your efforts are greatly appreciated.
"However it is with our deepest regret that we inform you all that our beautiful girl has been identified as the wahine in that burnt-out car in Havelock North," they continued.
They encourage anyone with information and details surrounding her death to contact police.
"Respectfully we ask for space and patience while we grieve."
Police said they were following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to Rigby's death, but urge the public to come forward if they have information.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police on 105 quoting file number 220905/1265. Information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."
