The United Kingdom is expected to declare a bank holiday for Queen Elizabeth's funeral.
The Queen died aged 96 at her Balmoral home on Thursday afternoon (local time), Buckingham Palace announced.
"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon," the Royal family said. "The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
Her funeral is expected to be held at Westminster Abbey in 10 days and it will likely be declared a bank holiday in the UK.
