A large fire has broken out at a derelict Christchurch property near the University of Canterbury.
A Police spokesperson said emergency services are responding to a house fire on Kirkwood Avenue in the suburb of Riccarton, which was reported around 9pm.
"There are no reports of injury, and all occupants are believed to have evacuated," they said.
"Traffic management is in place at Clyde Road and Riccarton Road, turning on to Kirkwood Avenue, while emergency services tend to the fire."
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said the property was a two-story derelict house. Seven fire engines are in attendance, along with a command unit and aerial appliance.
Several social media posts have claimed the fire was at the University of Canterbury, however a spokesperson told Newshub "the University of Canterbury is not on fire!"
"It’s not at the University but an empty property near to campus," they said. "Private property which is not owned or associated with the University."
