A 48-year-old man has been charged with murder after another man died in Hamilton earlier on Saturday.
Police were called to a Roy Street address in Nawton at about 11am after a report of a man being seriously injured. He was unable to be revived and died at the scene, while another person was taken into custody.
Witnesses told media that a person was stabbed with scissors after trying to stop an argument between a father and son.
The witness claims the victim had pulled over in their car and children were inside it.
Police said the 48-year-old is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Monday September 19.
"Police are not seeking anyone further in relation to this incident. However we are still making enquiries, and we'd like to speak to anyone who witnessed this morning's events who has not yet spoken to us," a police spokesperson said.
